The Shimba Hills are about 30 km south west of Mombasa and although not significantly higher than the coastal beaches, they are remarkably cool; breezes from the Indian Ocean rise over the eastern escarpment with invigorating freshness. This pristine wonderland of Rolling Meadows and forests of giant primeval trees harbours a wide variety of wildlife.

  • Area: 320 km²

Shimba Hills gives you the opportunity to see the rare Sable Antelope whose population is bound only to this National Reserve. Other wildlife opportunities include Elephants, several bird species, numerous butterflies and with some patience (and some luck) the Leopard. Don’t forget to visit the ever-flowing Sheidric Falls.
